"I LOVE MY JOB!" Kindermusik educator Gina Terry started Kindermusik with Gina in fall of 2004. In spring of 2004, Gina and her son Cameron (pictured with her at right) were enrolled in their second Kindermusik class under the instruction of Mrs. Monique Davis. Davis was planning to teach Kindergarten full time in the fall and approached Gina about continuing a Kindermusik program in Statesville. Teaching Kindermusik was something I kept in the back of my mind since participating in a class with our eldest son, Chandler" (at lower right with Gina's mom on keyboard). "I was familiar with Kindermusik from my first MENC Convention in Greensboro as a new chorus teacher in 1987. I have many fond memories of musical experiences as a child with my parents and grandparents. Family music experiences are the best!" Since leaving public school education to be a stay-at-home-mom, I quickly recognized the love of working with children and music was still in me, but our first priority was for me to be available to our own children. Establishing a Kindermusik studio was a perfect fit. I can tailor my schedule to meet the needs of my family while providing a quality music program for other children. The most rewarding aspect of this arrangement is the relationships I have developed with other families. It is a privilege to be part of their lives through music. Gina and her husband Chris have been married 22 years. They moved to Statesville in 1996. Prior to starting Kindermusik with Gina, she worked for Catawba County Schools as an Assistant Principal and elementary drama teacher. Gina was previously employed in Lenoir County, NC as a middle school drama and dance teacher and in Yancey County, NC as an elementary and middle school music and chorus teacher. She has also served as a teacher-advisor for six student teachers from the Dance Education Program and East Carolina University, as well as Teacher-on-loan and Arts Consultant for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Southeast Regional Educational Service Alliance. Gina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Mars Hill College and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from East Carolina University. Gina is actively involved with children and adults in the music program of First Presbyterian Church of Statesville. She enjoys scrapbooking and running and volunteering.
